Þeoden Cyning
Syððan ærest wearð
feasceaft funden, he þæs frofre gebad,
weox under wolcnum, weorðmyndum þah,
oðþæt him æghwylc þara ymbsittendra
ofer hronrade hyran scolde,
gomban gyldan. þæt wæs god cyning!
- Beowulf (lines 6b - 11b)

Hello,
the figure and the painting are very well. I cannot believe that these figure is the first one in the last 30 year.
One point: for the horse you can use more drybrushing.
Do you know this site:
The tips are in English. You will find there some tips about drybrushing, too.
You was in the army?
Regards,
Lars.

In frühster Jugend

Thank you Lars,
Yes, I served as both enlisted Army (active duty and National Guard in college) and after college switched to the Navy for Officer Candidate School. Now I am more or less on Ruhestand but trying to make a second career by writing my promotion at Uni-Jena.
That website is great and I just discovered it - found a fast way to paint horses there
I debated with dry brushing but the movie still/photo I had had his horse very, very white and even the mane was blended so I didn't even stain that. In hindsight I probably should have done both. But I am not repainting any figure as I like to see the progress made through practice and figure after figure. For example, my Eowyn figure is atrocious! But I think with practice viking berserkerin turned out a bit better from this summer

Re: Þeoden Cyning
Hello,
I was in the Army, too. After my engineering study I must go for 15 months to the army because Germany had in the past the military draft. So in this 15 months I signed the contract for 8 years as a soldier of time in the staff of an artillery battalion (part of an international brigade in the German/Netherland corps).
So about your painting:
The second figure looks great, too (your photos are a little bit blurred). I can see much more drybrushing at the pelt. I think you will be better and better in the next coming time. Each figure will help you.
Your interests lie only by the Lord of the Rings trilogy? Great Britain has a amazing history. Don't forget Waterloo.
Regards,
Lars.

Hallo Freunde,

Lutz schrieb:Hallo Freunde,
